We always want to share good news to you, our friends and family. Unfortunately we also have to let you know some problems we face day by day, so that you can understand why do we need your help and support. This is something that the girls told us that happened in the temporary shelter, and therefore the need for a permanent shelter so that we can take good care of our girls.
As some of you know, we work with a government funded shelter, where the girls sleep and do some other activities; in that shelter they stay for 3 months until they can find either another shelter or they return home (sometimes to the same people that abused/sold her). The girls told us that one girl, who we are going to call “X”, had a mental crisis and tried to end her life. This is difficult for us to hear because we love them as our own, so we decided to find out more about what had happened, and we learned something really hearbreaking. The reason behind X’s crisis was because she was not getting enough help and attetion from the shelter, her story is really hard to hear but long story short, she is a girl victim of sexual explotation and human trafficking (most of the girls that are with us at the moment have backgrounds of abuse by their parents). The girls who were present that day told us that they were having dinner at the kitchen and everything looked like a normal day, but X grabbed a knife and tried to herself, they also tell us that she is a really problematic girl, who tries to hit and assault the other girls in the shelter.
We want to help X and all the other girls who spend their 3 months period in Dunamis, we know the special attention that all the girls need, and we also know that there are girls who need more help than others, we know their backstories and therefore we understand that the help they need is different for each girl. We urge you to pray for us, to pray for all the girls in Dunamis, we are behind this problem and we will have a meeting with the people in charge of the temporary shelter, please pray so that God is the one talking and that He puts the right words. Please continue helping us to grow, the permanent shelter will help many girls who were victims of Human Trafficking, abuse, sexual explotation and everything that comes with that evil!
